Free Tours of the Atlanta Fox Theatre

ATLANTA, GA — The Atlanta Preservation Center is having its 3rd annual Phoenix Flies celebration from March 5th to March 15th. There will be many free activities going on around the city. As part of that, they have a weeklong period in which they will be giving free tours of the Legendary Atlanta Fox Theatre. The dates for the free tours are:
Saturday March 5th, 10am and 11am
Monday March 7th, 10am
Wednesday March 10th, 10am
Thursday March 11th, 10am
Saturday, March 13th 10am and 11am
This tour is the standard “Beauty Tour” of the Fox that, circumstance permitting, will allow people to see the public areas of the Fox including the Egyptian Ballroom, Grand Salon, Grand Terrace, the 4 lounge areas, and the Grand Auditorium.
We are told that if there are more than 20 people in a tour group, Larry Douglas Embury, the Fox’s Organist in Residence, will come to the Fox to play the Mighty Moller Organ for the group at the end of the tour.
To participate in these tours, simply show up at the Fox’s main entrance, the Arcade, approximately fifteen minutes prior to the tour start time.
Of note, Molly Fortune, the Preservation Director of the Fox, is going to personally give a “Top to Bottom” tour of the building on Monday, 5th at 2pm. This tour skips the public areas and goes on to explore the inner-workings of the Fox. Reservations are required for this tour and can be made by calling the Atlanta Preservation Center at 404-688-3353, x11.
Unfortunately, the maximum number of tour participants for the Top to Bottom Tour has already been reached, but the Atlanta Preservation Center was asking people that are interested in the tour to please call anyway while APC sees if Ms. Fortune can be persuaded to either enlarge the number of people on the tour or perhaps schedule more tours.
