Uptown Theatre (Chicago) DVD Available

For those who missed the premiere of the Uptown Theatre movie at the Portage earlier this summer, the award-winning documentary is being released on DVD.

Filmmakers John Pappas and Michael Bisberg have generously agreed to donate any proceeds from “Uptown: Portrait of a Palace” to Compass Rose and Friends of the Uptown to help further promote the concept of the theater’s renovation and reuse as an entertainment venue.

Compass Rose has an extensive History of the Uptown on its Web site, and sponsors the Uptown Signature Drive to show local and international support for the theater. You may also download a free PDF of the Opening Day Program.

The production and distribution of this DVD is an all-volunteer effort, from the graphic artist who is designing the cover to the volunteers who will be wrapping and shipping the DVDs.
