Orpheum Theatre’s $30 million campaign aims for full, modern renovation

WICHITA, KS — The Orpheum Theatre has announced plans for an ambitious renovation aimed to bring it up to modern standards for a performing arts center. The six-phase project would take two years and update virtually every facet of the space, from backstage to the areas surrounding the building.

I hope they don’t wreck the nice large neon marquee. Looks like It will be gone when they start to remodel and gut the place, how sad.

Actually, Terry, if you look at the rendering, you can see that the existing marquee is off to the right, at the far end of the old office tower. It’s hard to see in the image because it’s seen from the back. The modern pavilion on the rendering is at the opposite end of the building from the old marquee and entrance.

Thanks Gary. It is so small on the far right side. They will probably use the new glass entrance. Are you walking into a theatre movie palace or a office building?
