Very sad indeed, as well as any Thratre anywhere in the Country.
When they tore down the Warner in Pittsburgh, Pa. you would have thought I lost a very dear family member. I loved going to work there. I could not go near fifth ave. for a long time after that, was just to hard to bear.

Thanks Patsy,
Would this be great if every town did the same? Give me a Drive-In anytime, for the summer, and a nice place to go in the winter.

Whats new? They are all alike, They can`t give the American worker a raise in minimum wage, so why would they keep a beautiful building standing if thier friends in business need parking spaces? they do seem to take care of each other, like just recently they voted themselves a nice cost of living raise, but I say where is ours?

Neo,
You are right, seems to be a national thing. They had quite a few in Pittsburgh where I am from. Everyone is now a parking lot.

Tim & Neo,
That is exactly what they did to the one in Lebanon, Pa. just left it go to hell. Then they could tear them down for parking lots

Patrick, what a shame is right, I worked this Theatre years ago, along with the Colonial Theatre in Harrisburg, Pa. and the Colonial in Lebanon, Pa. I remember Allentown, & Harrisburg were pretty much set up the same way. All three are gone now, is truly a sad day.

Barbara, I have a question, I have been a projectionist for 49 years, I now live in Nashville Tennessee, and would love to work part time for your Company. How do I go about this? I have done installations, have rebuilt every projector ever made, and would like to be treated like a human being, I just quit Carmike, the place no one gets treated right.
Thank You

What I would have given to see a movie in cinerama at this great Drive-In. God I wish Drive-Ins would make a comeback.

Patsy: Once again you have hit the nail on the head. This theatre does sound great. I have given up on the theatre business two weeks ago. I am going back into music. I was Bo Diddley & Bo Jr`s Drummer for a long time. Since I moved to Nashville, TN. I have run into some Great musicians From the past. One of them being Virgil Gibson who was the lead singer of the former world famous Platters. He and I have hooked up and are forming the band Coat Of Colors. We want to do a five state tour, take a break, and do five more states. My plan is every city we go to, I want to look up old theatres and see if they have tours, or what they are doing with the buildings. Take pictures, ect. ect. Thanks to everyone out there for all your great info. Thank God for Cinema Treasures.

Love And Ood Bless All.

I remember the Eric Theatre in Harrisburg,Pa. I ran the sound of music in 70mm. It had a big curved screen,it was later twined. Then they took over the Trans-Lux as well, and they had the Eric twin in Union Deposit, along with the old Keystone Drive-In. I Liked working for them at the time.

I used to run movies at this Theatre, back when they had Simplex e-7`s with Peerless magnarc lamps, The regular projectionist was Marshall Klien who worked there for years with local 488 out of the Harrisburg area.

Steve, is it really true? Is the Uptown going to a platter system?
What a shame if it does. I am truly sad to hear the fate of the Cinema.
Take care my friend.
