It’s shuttered and locked. Whoever used to, or still does, own or manage this place, I hope you resurrect Cinema King’s Highway.

It’s Labor Day week and I am on vacation from work and thinking of visiting after almost a year. I’ve read conflicting reports… Is it open or is it not open ??? Before I make my trip can someone let me know. I remember this one hot Italian guy there who use to get up and show off in his briefs. Hope he’s there if it’s open. Please let me know

It’s going to be interesting to see which theaters actually survive the pandemic. I’ve seen reports of AMC ones with expired or expiring leases will not. The possibility that AMC as a totality would go out of business was also mentioned.

Thanks for those excellent photos, HomecrestGuy. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a semi-wraparound marquee before — it’s beautiful.

I just uploaded the old/new NYC Tax Photo of the Jewel, circa 1940, to the photo section. This is probably the oldest pic of the theater available.

I used to work at this theatre back in the ‘70s. There were times that I would sell the ticket; sell refreshments (candy/soda) and run the films! When I was alone, I used to let my good friends in – lasted for a while until my parents found out it was a porn theater and wouldn’t let me work there anymore – lol. Fun times and great memories.

Garth, glad to hear that they are still maintaining the facility. It was only a year ago that it was up for sale and in danger of being gone forever.

There is no designated smoking area, you must go outside. They have renovated (if you can call it that) the basement lounge, getting rid of the old broken theater seats and replacing them with some cheap tables and chairs. They also fixed/ replaced some broken seats in the 2 small theaters.Let’s be thankful for small mercies.

Just went this past Friday after I stayed away for quite a while and it was better than I expected. In fact I met quite a few guys and had a good time. I hate the new hrs tho…atleast on weekends (FRI/SAT) they should stay open a bit longer than 10PM. Maybe that will change. I hope so.

If I recall correctly, there are three theaters on the ground floor: two small porn rooms and a larger one that plays cable tv.

NEW HOURS 11am-10pm every day. Visited yesterday, it’s $12 a person to enter and you can go from theater to theater/booths. It’s been advertised before that normal movies play here, but it was all porn for the time I was there. 2 small theaters on the main floor, one with straight one with gay porn. Behind the theaters are viewing booths, with old glitchy tiny TV’s playing 90’s porn. Half on them are gay half are straight. People will lurk on you in and out of the rooms. Upstairs is one large theater that was only playing gay cowboy porn. Downstairs are more bathrooms, a old TV set playing cable news, and some broken theater seats. The lobby has some arcade games, vending machines, free coffee, and an occasional prositute.

The description for this theater needs to be updated. There are four screens. Three are on the first floor. The auditorium in the middle seats approximately 24 and runs cable T.V. networks such as USA or AMC. The auditorium to the right and left run adult films. these seat 15 and 12. Behind these auditoriums there are rows of private video booths. The former balcony is the fourth auditorium and runs adult films and has around 124 seats. That makes the current capacity of this theater approximately 151. The seating on the first floor is newer but in very poor condition. The balcony has original seating that is in surprisingly good shape. The lobby has almost no furnishings except for a few stools and vending machines. The bathrooms are in the basement where there is a lounge area consisting of some old auditorium seats and an old T.V. set. Considering what type of theater this is the facility is in pretty good condition and clean.

Duly Noted and with regards to it’s past, present and future. I have always loved old theatres and there classic design, it really is a shame if this one is lost even given it’s present condition and function although I do not disagree with the function which is being serviced in a different manner these days. History does seem to repeat itself in a circular manner. I have seen the old become new and old again.
