I have been selling at the swap meet every saturday and sunday for years now and I would really hate to see it go away. I have also went to see the movies when they are open. Nothing beats the freedom of the drive in theatre. You dont have to worry about being quiet or sitting next to some unpleasant person with a cough or bad breath knocking your arm off the armrest of the uncomfortable seat. I realize the solano drive in has it’s problems, but if you ask me the price to be paid for saving one of the last drive ins around would be small. This theatre needs a simple cosmetic makeover. Here is what I would do! Tear down the unsightly fencing – totally resurface the asphalt including the parking area keeping drainage and easy maintenance in mind – Trim all the trees and remove all unsightly shrubs – then build a new fence using stronger more attractive materials. – Add one more entrance and exit gate in one of the back corners to ease traffic on swap meet days. To pay for all this you could charge for parking on sundays, and raise the price for satuday swap meet addmission, 25 cents should definately be raised to $1.00 – The entire operation is badly managed, I can think of many ways to increase the profits, and bring still more people to the drive in to see movies.
