The Mighty WurliTizer Theater Pipe Organ, Opus 1092, was shipped to this theater from the WurliTizer Factory in North Tonawanda, New York on June 26, 1925. It was a 2/4 (Manuals/Ranks, Keyboards/Sets of Pipes) with a curved console. It had a total of 292 pipes, cathedral chimes, xylophone, glockenspiel, bass drum, kettle drum, cymbal, snare drum, tambourine, castanets, Chinese block, horse hoofs, surf, bird, train, auto horn, fire gong, steamboat whistle, siren, tom tom and door bell. These sound effects were real not some electronic gizmos! Does anyone know how long the organ was in the theater and what happened to it?
I think the address/location is all messed up! The opening ad states the drive-in is on Rt 53 just North of NORTH Avenue and the article in the 6/30/68 Hearld states “on Route 53 two blocks North of North Avenue”. It’s present location on the map goes past Fullerton, Diversey and Army Trail Road 2 ½ miles North of North Avenue? Perhaps two different drive-ins?
The Barton Theater Pipe Organ started out in 1927 as a style 23, Opus 513, that cost $5,630 in the Regent Theater in Muskegon as a 2/6 (manual/rank, keyboards/sets of pipes). It was moved to this theater when it opened and enlarged to a 3/8. Barton was in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
Built by Alexander Pantages, his eldest son Rodney was the general manager of the circuit.
When the theater opened on February 28, 1921, Jack Claxton was in charge and J. Lloyd Dearth his assistant. By that summer Jack Quinlan was the manager and then J. Lloyd Dearth. On October 7, 1925 A.B. Morrison became manager for at least two years.
The Robert-Morton Theatre Pipe Organ was a 2/ (manual/ keyboard/) and cost $10,000. Does anyone know what happened to the organ?
In 1939 the manager was Tom Ballas.

The Robert Morgan Organ Company was located in Van Nuys, California. Harold J. Werner the head of the company named the company after his new-born son Robert Mort Werner.
What ever happened to Robert Mort Werner? Later in life he joined NBC as a producer of the “Today” show, produced the “Tonight” show with Jack Parr and introduced such shows as “Bonanza” “Star Trek” and “Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In” and was President of the American Academy of Television and Arts and Sciences.

It was originaly shipped to the Loews Theater in Syracuse, New York on January 13, 1928. In 1964 it was sold to a private owner in Glendale, California and in 1965 it was sold to another private owner in San Lorenzo, California. In 1995 it was sold to the Stanford and it is played all the time. Does it now have more ranks?
WurliTizer Church Pipe Organ Opus 274 Shipped to the San Francisco WurliTzer Store on January 16, 1920 and then on to the 1st Baptist Church in Martinez, California was also been sold to the Stanford several years ago, much to the chagrin of a former 1st Babist Church organist. He believes “they bought it for augmenting the installation there”.
There was an organ in the theater when it opened and it was removed. Anyone know anything about that organ or what happened to it?

At the Dominion Theater in London it opened April 21, 1958 and closed September 21, 1962, it ran just under 4 YEARS AND 6 MONTHS! An unbroken record run that will probably never be equaled. The film was shown about 2,320 times. If one is careful with 70mm prints, how many times can it be shown before it needs to be replaced?
