KANSAS CITY, Mo. (December 19, 2003) — AMC Entertainment Inc. (AMEX:AEN), one of the world’s leading theatrical exhibition companies, announced today it has acquired three 16-screen megaplex theatres from MegaStar Cinemas, LLC. The theatres, located in the Atlanta and Minneapolis-St. Paul markets, feature stadium seating and were built since 2000

The MegaStar theatres acquired by AMC are the MegaStar 16 at the Stonecrest Mall in Lithonia, Ga.; the MegaStar 16 in Maple Grove, Minn. and the MegaStar Southdale Center 16 in Edina, Minn. Including the newly acquired theatres, AMC now operates nine theatres with 147 screens in the Atlanta area, and seven theatres with 83 screens in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area.

ALPHARETTA, GA â€" Studio Movie Grill, Dallas-based pioneer of the highly successful â€œmovie grillâ€ concept, has chosen the edge of Roswell/ Alpharetta, Georgia as the next step in its national expansion. The state-of-the-art theater complex at Holcomb Center, 2880 Holcomb Bridge Road will open to the public in May 2010. The Regal Arbor Place Mall 18, featuring stadium seating, hosts an annual Free Family Film Festival during a period of the summer months. The cinema offers discounted tickets for matinee shows (those showing before 3pm), and extends special rates to children, senior citizens, students and military personnel

Macy’s was shuttered in 1995, with the Cinema 16 multiplex installed on its second level in 1997. The mall continued to founder, nonetheless. The motion picture venue was shuttered in 2000.
