I forgot to add the 4 **** Theatre has just mono sound last time I was in the cinema. Please put in a stereo surround system when you remodel the place and some color lights.

Let’s hope the new managers of the small 4 **** Theatre in SF fix the main stage curtains to make them work again as they don’t bother fixing the curtains at the Vogue and Balboa Theatres in SF they run. Bring some showmanship back and program some 35mm movie classics. Time to rip out the tiny add on screen in the back side and make the cinema one again!

Thanks Dallas. Wish I had one of these classic satin CinemaScope® banners made by National Screen Service. You never see them up on E Bay. They came in many colors and sizes and were cheap in the early 1950’s. Some had fringe on the bottom and looked so nice blowing in the wind under a neon theatre marquee!

Great neon at the Fremont Theatre still open in San Luis Obispo CA. The town also has a working outdoor drive in theatre.

Thanks Ken glad they did restore this nice looking movie theatre for a new generation to enjoy! Let’s hope they can put in some color LED lights in the side scone lights shown in the photo. Time to show ‘Rio Bravo’ on the CinemaScope® screen. Or ‘Hondo’ in 3D. Bring on the cowboy western bands on weekend nights. I wonder If they have any moving stage curtains that work?

terrywade commented about Entrance Regal 12 Stonestown Theatre SF CA on May 30, 2021 at 4:15 pm

Turns out this lighted sign outside the brand new now open (May 28 2021) Regal 12 Stonestown Galleria Theatre in SF was not turned into a small fountain after all. They filled with dirt and put plants into the front of the sign. Now someone at Regal 12 SF or the Stonestown Mall needs to put some signs or arrows outside the front and inside the halls of the big mall to direct people to the second floor entrance to the brand new cinema. No one can find the entrance going for the first time from the outside parking lot area.

terrywade commented about Large RPX Auditorium Regal Stonestown 12 SF Theatre #12 on May 29, 2021 at 7:24 pm

This RPX® auditorium has lighted Klisph® stereo surround speakers. The Dolby Atmos® system is not quite set up and tuned yet. Dolby® tech people will be coming on Tues June 1 2021 to complete the set up we have been told. Turns out after my visit today the seats do not recline in this RPX® space. Too bad they did not put in the nice electric recliner seats like they have in other parts of this brand new cinema. The new Regal Orange type electric recliners take the space of 3 regular lean back seats so I guess they put in more seats in their largest theatre #12.

What I wonder will the movie be shown in 3D along with 4DX® effects. Hope for the extra price they do everything and not skimp and show It in regular 2D. I wonder if ‘A Quite Place Part #2’ was even shot in 3D? If a new film was shot in true 3D time to turn on everything at a 4DX® Cinema!

terrywade commented about Regal Stonestown 12 Galleria Theatre SF ScreenX® on May 28, 2021 at 8:20 am

The ScreenX® auditorium cinema is located in Theatre #9 and seats 204. They are not showing anything in the new ScreenX® system yet but are showing regular movies this week. Saw Mortal and just the front scope screen was used. Very confusing for new people that go into Theatre #9 and see all the signage for the new SX outside and the image is just like all the rest of the screens in the new Regal 12 front image only. Lets hope they can book a true ScreenX® movie soon and just keep this cinema space for the new process. At least they did not charge the extra fee for SX. We all wonder what that extra charge will be when all three screens are fired up? What’s bad about the Regal monthly pass fee It does not include 3D, 4DX®, ScreenX® or the Regal branded RPX® auditoriums they charge extra. Too bad they just don’t have a one price deluxe pass and not add all the extra money. We don’t see at this new Regal 12 in SF a special discount fee on Tuesdays or Wednesdays for seniors like many of the other cinemas in the SF Bay area have?

terrywade commented about ScreenX® Regal 12 Stonestown Theatre #9 on May 27, 2021 at 7:47 pm

What is strange about the new Regal 12 in SF they have no chairs or seat/benches in the lobby or halls to sit if you come a little early or If the auditorium is still being cleaned. Maybe this is the new norm or maybe they have not arrived yet?

terrywade commented about Rear Back Section Regal 12 SF CA RPX on May 27, 2021 at 4:12 pm

I will check this Saturday when I go for the first time to see Quite #2 in the large RPX® Theatre #12 auditorium. I think It was filmed in scope so the screen will have white at the top and bottom as no masking was put in. When that happens you see no curve at all in the middle of the screen. I was told by the manager that Dolby Atmos® was put in and I did see dark semi hidden speakers up in the ceiling. After all San Francisco is the home of Dolby®. He was very busy and who knows the manager is not a tech person. This RPX® space seats 296 people. It’s just too bad the screen is not as curved as the older AMC & Century XD theatres in SF. When I looked inside last month at this new Regal 12 the screen frames looked much more curved but when they put the screen fabric up the last week I think someone took some of the bend curve off the metal frames out?

Not all the new auditoriums at the new Regal 12 SF have electric true recliner seats. Some just tilt back a little when you lean back. The current seat count is listed in my report. The 4DX® screen auditorium Theatre #1 is still being tested and when they find a movie when ready It will open. Too bad It did not make this opening week but It is coming soon.

terrywade commented about 4DX Equipment Ready To Be Turned On Regal 12 SF on May 27, 2021 at 8:24 am

Does anyone know here on Cinema Treasures what is the best place to sit in a 4DX® auditorium? Front, back or in the middle? Do you get wet or is it just a fine mist? Hope the fog smoke does not smell bad. I guess each programed film has It’s own set of time when the effects come on. If It stays on all he time you may get a little dizzy with the tilting of the special seats.

This photo shot shows all the special equipment used for 4DX® Cinema in Theatre #9 at the just opened new Regal Stonestown 12 Galleria in San Francisco. It is in the lower load position for testing and fine tuning before a movie will be shown soon. I wonder what the increase in ticket price $ will be in SF? Someone has to pay extra for all these fun effects.
