This newspaper image of the Metro’s fine interior was published on the day of the Metro’s opening (27th September 1938) and offers further proof of what a gem of ‘Inter War’ Art Deco architecture it was!

I loved working at the Metro theatre in the 1950’s as an usherette and knew many people there. I saw a photo of Betty Bryant at the ticket kiosk on this website and it brought back lots of happy memories. I have written a book called A Memoir of a Naughty Girl which is due to be published at the end of August 2018 and I have mentioned about my time at the theatre. I would love to know if there is anyone who remembers me from then Audrey J. Holmes nee Fairweather.
