I’m very curious about that cupola/turret, is there a set of stairs up to there?

The owner of this theatre and the residents of Dunsmuir should have a look at what Coos Bay, OR has done with their Egyptian Theatre.

That sneak peek of the lobby, it looks in decent condition.

I hope Don Lewis can update his photo links? all are 404 dead.

You can catch a glimpse of it in Dirty Harry when Scorpio is on the rooftop looking over Washington Square Park for his 2nd victim before being interrupted by the police chopper. Looks as if the blade sign was black with white letters then.

I remember when this theatre came into existence and it wasn’t long before it no longer existed. It was a repurposed storefront, never really an actual theatre, there was no rise to the floor making it difficult to see the smallish screen. The few films I did attend, I was surprised at the size of the crowd in attendance, they did manage to screen some very good quality and interesting films, that surely had more to do with the good turnout than the venue itself.

This is one theatre that I doubt anyone misses.

I remember as a naughty little boy, my cohorts and myself would scrounge through the dumpster out back of this place and find armloads of damaged 16mm film and gaze in wonderment at the tiny pornographic images.

I know the chances are slim to none, but would it be feasible to return this building to a moviehouse? It looks so good now on the outside. I see there are no open theatres in this town.

I’d sure like to see many more theatres receive this treatment.

I believe the address is 104 Texas st, Mansfield, LA This theatre still looks imminently usable, at least from a Google maps view.

I think they should have retained the blade sign, but fantastic the building is being used for something theatre oriented.

Sadly this theatre has moved to the “demolished” category.

So many folks have fond memories in that old building, I was a South Whidbey kid, and only saw a handful of films here, it was always a treat, someones birthday or such, what a shame it’s just a memory now.

Remember driving by in 2000 or 2001 and the marquee, the fences, everything looked so well cared for, I thought: Well this one should be around for a lot more years, how wrong I was.

I read in the paper that Swedish Medical has fallen on hard times and will have to lay off hundreds, did that expansion even need to be built? The future of America: nothing but Condos, Clinics and pharmacies. The first to house the billions being kept alive forever, and rest to dispense the medical miracles.
