Vue Birkenhead was purchased by the Wirral council around 2019 ahead of a major redevelopment of Birkenhead which means this cinema will be demolished. Vue continues to operate it though it’s unknown when Wirral council will begin redevelopment of the area and demolish the cinema.
Around late 2020 before reopening after covid, much of the interior of Vue Cheshire Oaks was refurbished with newer vue branding, including the games area being replaced with a drinks machine and many celling fixtures and neon signs from warner village being replaced. The blue and yellow star in the middle of the foyer is still there, being the only clear remnant of the warner village era.
