It somehow went to a sad waste, Not only demolishing the once grand cinema. But leaving it as mere empty space.

Another theatre that should have been saved, Instead of demolished for “progress”.

I actually went here at times from 1989-94. Wasn’t bad at first, But seemingly things went progressively downhill. And in it’s last year?, Need I say more?. But I do miss this theatre being around, And wished that it were maintained more professionally.

I believe the theatre had a fire in the Summer of 1978, Along with a few other businesses, I believe one of them was a once popular Hungarian or Slavic violin player restaurant.

In the end, The Norridge theatre became a sad case. That somehow saddens me if I look back. Especially when I seen some films there during the 1980’s. Those actually seemed like the “Good Old Days”. I guess with other cinemas, And somehow general neglect, Plus the prospect of another business potentially taking over. The days & nights of the Norridge theatre in bloom would become a thing of the past.

There was also a Telenews theatre in Chicago. I actually believe there were 2 Telenews cinemas. One On N.State St which later became the Loop theatre; Which operated until the late 1970’s. Also one on N.Rush St which later became the Carnegie. And then had a major fire in early 1966, But was rebuilt shortly thereafter, And operated until the 1980’s.
