Opening Souvenir Program page 5: Thring and Griffith were joint Managing Directors of Hoyts Theatres Ltd. - which had been formed by the merger in 1926 of Hoyts Pictures (Griffith & Challingsworth) and J. C. Williamson film interests (Thring, Tallis & Tait). In the four years before Fox bought them out in 1930, the company embarked on a construction spree which resulted in a chain of magnificent Regent (and Plaza) theaters.
