Here is a view of the Voge Theatre, taken on August 26, 1956 by William C. Hoffman. It was located near the South Shore Line interurban station, and you can see a freight train in the distance. On September 16th of that year, the railroad’s tracks were relocated to a new bypass route that skirted East Chicago, eliminating a bottleneck.
