I would like to add to Brent Clark with whom I met at my theatre in Ulysses Kansas. Rick and Tina Ross has done an excellent job with the Lamar Theatre. It has had so many owners that had just let it run down. Brent Clark had thought that C.U. Yeager was the architect but was the owner back in the 30"s. I worked for Atlas Theatre chain out of Denver which was owned by Mr. Yeager and for years of all the theatres he owned he called the Lamar theatre his Flag Ship Theatre. +I worked at the FOX Rialto in 1950 thru 1953 and the ISIS Theatre was also part of the FOX Intermountain chain At that time the manager was Virg Campbell and he had worked with one of the national circus companys, and he always had something going. We worked close with the Isis, we were first run and the isis run as many as 4 older features at one time for a real cheap price. I got to work the door for him when Fox booked the hedy lamar movie ECTASY in whiche she made in 1936 when she swam naked. The Isis when crazy with business for several weeks. The Movies,formally the Crocker Theatre was built in 1948.The Grant Theatre was Built in the early 30’s. The Crocker family run the Grant Theatre till 1950 when they closed it. They run both theatres for several years. The building that housed the Grant Theatre has been used for several different retail stores and many years as a Daylight Donut shop, which the buidinf is now for lease or sale. The Daylifgt Donut Shop moved to a new location.My self and my wife Norma Dudley purchased The Crocker Theatre From C.V. Crocker in 1972 and changed the name to The Movies in 1976 and still operating it today. posted by dudley on May21, 2005 at 2:10pm
