Since 1978, film has been shown on the corner of Heerenstraat-Molenstraat. In 2004, the theater was taken over by three motivated Wageningen entrepreneurs with a great passion for film. They took care of a restart of the existing theater under the name Heerenstraat Theater. In order to offer even more quality, we started digitizing one of our rooms in 2005, which we were far ahead of the time. In 2008, the Theater Café was expanded and a cozy, sun-drenched terrace was created. Of course we also led the way with showing 3D films. In 2009, we were one of the first in the country to install a 3D projector of the second generation of digital projection equipment. All our rooms have been fully digitized since 2011, all chairs were replaced in 2014 and in 2018 we continue to provide an atmospheric environment and optimal (film) experience from Oscar to Arthouse every day.

Triggerfinger bassplayer Paul van Bruystegem once labeled a concert as “An ode to Burton Cummings and his vintage theater” and commented “This was straight from Belgium to you, Mr. Cummings; local singer-musician-hero”. The Belgians played as a support act for the Canadian rock band Big Sugar in 2015. More about this theater can be found in the book “Monsieur Paul on Tour” (2016).

Eric Leeuwenberg commented about Cinecitta on Nov 6, 2017 at 7:11 am

The cinema: Arthouse films have been shown on the Willem II Street 29 in Tilburg for a hundred years. The cinema shows the most beautiful arthouse movies from all outskirts of the world, which often shed the regular Hollywood movies sharply. No blockbusters, but special movies for people who do not go with the mass.

Renovation: After the 2012 renovation, there were 3 cinemas, a multifunctional room, a stylish meeting room, a bar, a courtyard and a restaurant with extensive menu. The property has a monumental appearance.

Operator: There is still an operator in service, so unique in the Netherlands. One stays closer to the visitors in that way.

History: Since 1916, there has been a cinema in this historic building: New Cinema, Willem II Theater, Cinema Royal and Ambassade (Embassy),later supplemented with Camera 1 and Camera 2. Here, the audience became familiar with the phenomena from the 1960s. Arthouse, night films and sex films. From 1982, the rooms of Ambassade (Embassy) and Camera were taken over by Bert Goessen and Frans van Beek. They called their Cinecitta cinema, to the famous film studios in Rome.

Cinecitta also maintained her existence in difficult times, while the one after the other disappeared from the Tilburg street scene. Independence, vision and perseverance play the lead in 100 hundred years of cinema history.

Eric Leeuwenberg commented about Chassé Cinema on Oct 25, 2017 at 1:17 pm

“The” film theater of Breda! 365 days of film a year and weekly a new premiere and special movie events. The theater offers films in three rooms as well as theater, opera, dance, music, musical and cabaret. This diversity is unique in the Netherlands. It has over 400.000 visitors, 500 theatershows and 3400 movieshows per season.

The Chassé Theater, designed by architect Herman Hertzberger, has a rolling roof. The architect was inspired by a sculpture of a reclining woman. The theater is named after General David Hendrik Chassé (Tiel, 1765 – Breda, 1849) who fought both for and against napoleon and during the Belgian independance in 1830.

Vision: We have everything in our house. Beauty of the purest water and amusement of reinforced concrete. We unlock you a partymood while you have nothing to party. We’re gonna crack your brains, when you thought you ’d digged everything. We bring wooden cloves to the swing and cool frogs to cry. Breda deserves the very best and you deserve to be very happy.

Mission: The Chassé Theater presents and promotes performing arts and artistic films in all their appearances, bringing beauty, emotion and depth to a wide audience from Breda and beyond. This happens with a hospitable and involved staff. The building is exploided optimal to cultural- and business operation. The programming, service and ambiance are distinctive and of high quality.

History: The first signs of a small improvised theater were on the Kaatsbaan around the year 1727. It was enlarged by 1769. By 1802 a new theater opened in the Millitary Hospital. It burned down in 1814. The next theater openend soon after in De Oude Vest named as “Comedie”. This theater lasted until 1880 when a new theater was build at the Van Cooth Plein trading as “Concordia”. In World War I it housed Belgian refugees. In Worldwar II the nazi’s and the NSB occupied it for propaganda purposes. In 1945 the allied forced partied the victory. In 1953 it sheltered flood victims. In 1964 the municipality financed urgent renovations. Inevitable the theater becamed outdated again by 1980 and suffered financial problems. The concert hall “Het Turfschip” and the cinema “De Beyerd” had the same difficulties. The idea to join the three locations was born. An official plan to execute this was presented by 1989. Years of difficulties, struggles and argues between planmakers and local governors followed until 1995 a brand new theater designed by Herman Herzberger opened it’s doors. Costs: over 25 million euros. Nowadays, it still is an architectical miracle, because every detail of the building is thought over. In those days it was the largest theater of the country and architecture critics all over the world took a visit. A third cinemaroom was added by 2002.

The former “Cinema Terneuzen” was taken over by Cine City in Vlissingen. The new cinema, called Cine City Terneuzen, opened the doors in 2010.

In the new Terneuzian cinema the food and drink service disappeared in the halls.

In Cine City Terneuzen, 3-d films are displayed next to the regular movie offer, but a Lady’s Night is organized monthly as well as in Vlissingen.

Staff from Vlissingen will also be deployed in Terneuzen.

CineCity Terneuzen BV is a daughter of Cinema Holding BV. This company is located at Spuikomweg 1 in Vlissingen. In addition to CineCity Terneuzen BV, Cinema Holding BV has five other subsidiaries registered with the Chamber of Commerce in the Netherlands. CineCity Terneuzen BV is a subsidiary of Cinema Holding BV and is therefore on level two within the group structure.

In the Netherlands the victims of the Second Worldwar are reminded each year by two minutes of silence at 8 PM. source: ad.nl – Despite the good sales figures of the cinema, it is likely that the working conditions of the staff will be reduced. The fear is that other cinemas will follow. The trade unions stand their ground. source: dordrecht.net

Most visitors were regular customers. The cinema showed mostly B- and C movies. A movies were shown after they had played in other theaters before.
