•
he city council took up the issue of the grey-field status Valley View Mall in June of 2016. After that meeting, the mall and theatre was slated for demolition at the end of December of 2016. A new, smaller 10-screen AMC Midtown theatre was proposed (rendering above) with an exterior, ground-level entry as opposed to the third-floor interior entry of the AMC Valley View 16.

 •
Using the original projection room (shown in previous photo), The Odyssey is fully digital using 2 Barco DCP projectors. Nearest in the photo is a 2k resolution projector and furthest away is a 4K resolution projector. Both give great image quality however with the large screen the difference between 2k and 4K films is noticeable at the Odyssey with films looking there best in 4K when it is available.

It is a shame although somewhat understandable that 35mm and maybe even dual 35mm / 70mm capability was not installed at the Odyssey, maybe with the renaissance in 70mm this may come.
