This old matchbook from the Alexandria theater was given to me by a friend who found it behind a partition in the basement/garage of an old house in the Sunset District that was being remodeled. I’m not sure exactly how old it is, but the phone number is the same one listed in SF phone directories from the late 1940’s. Also, it’s a 6 digit number, and by the mid 50’s San Francisco was fully converted to automatic 7-digit dialing. So that may (or may not) be a clue to its' age.
