The theater was owned and operated by Johnny James of Cotton Plant in the 1940s/1950s. His stepdaughter, Rosemary Proctor Hamilton, includes anecdotes about the theatre and Mr. James in her 2008 book, “Only When I’m High: The Runways of a Southern Belle” (available at Amazon.com for $17.98). Mr. James eventually got out of the movie theater business and went to work for the U.S. Postal Service.
