Urban explorers have gotten inside. Screen 1 & 2 projection box is stripped with screen 1’s DP75 (sprockets and motors left) and it’s cake stand (no platters). Sound racks all removed. Screens are ripped from removal of the speaker drivers. Presumably done by Reel when they closed down. Video is on YouTube (Plymouth Reel Cinema).

The Plymouth Royal Cinema Trust are working on bringing the building back as a multipurpose venue with cinema and live music. https://www.plymouthroyalcinema.co.uk/ https://www.facebook.com/groups/627143367446193/

When the Drake was tripled, they added screen 2 and 3 to the Circle but left “The Luxury Lounge” between the walls of the new screens.

When they converted it to 5 screens around half to two thirds of the back of the stalls was taken over by screens 4 and 5.
Screen 1’s screen width was reduced from it’s former glory.

Who remembers the awesome movie themed wallpaper with Bruce Lee on it.

Cineworld Plymouth IMAX is not IMAX with Laser but the old Dual 2K Xenon 1.9 aspect ratio system but with the latest IMAX 12 channel sound. The screen is taller than 1.9 so a future upgrade to 1.43 aspect ratio full IMAX with dual 4K Laser projection may be possible. The screen itself is the 5th largest in the UK and the largest screen at a Cineworld site in the UK.
