Hello everyone, I’m new here. I would like to comment on the above statement. I say, with much pride, that I work at Elwood Cinemas in East Northport; I am not the manager however, just an observant staff member. When I say comment, I want it to be made explicitly clear that the following statement is the general consensus of the employees at the Elwood Cinemas. I do distinctly remember the above party in question, and I find it quite “UNBELIEVABLE” at what this man/woman is saying. Yes, we were unable to show the movie, Night at the Museum, that the family had booked the party for. This party was booked for a Wednesday, the opening day for the film; HOWEVER, the FILM COMPANY pushed back the opening until that Friday. I would very much like to know what this family wanted us to do for them, because showing Night at the Museum was an absolute impossibility at this point in the game, simply because WE DID NOT HAVE THE FILM YET. The above writer failed to mention that the theater gave his family a $50 discount on the party that is already quite inexpensive for what it is, AND a pass for their FAMILY, not just one person, the whole family, to return to our theater and see Night at the Museum when the film arrived. We had done ALL of this BEFORE the family “requested” a public apology. Honestly, we’re not politicians, requesting such a thing after we had done everything to make this party work, is absolutely ludicrous. To wrap this defense up, I would like to say that this happens once in a blue moon, and it was not our fault that the film company itself decided to push the release date back by TWO DAYS. Most families that book parties at our theater are extremely happy with our service and tend to be repeat customers. Not only do families have birthday parties, but some businesses like to have gatherings at our theater as well. Please do not let this extremely bias, one-sided sob story sway your decision to have your party with us. In regards to the comment, “this is a poorly run establishment”, I would like to respectfully disagree. Our managers are top notch, but will not do anything they feel is most unnecessary. People from all over town come to our small movie theater simply because: 1, we’re cheaper, 2, we’re friendly and accommodating, 3, we’re small and clean, 4, we’re safe, and lastly, 5, we don’t take any crap from any irate customers. If you don’t agree with me, that’s fine, go to the multiplex at Commack, I’m sure when you walk into that dump you’ll change your tune. Respectfully yours, Elwood Cinemas.
