The Lakeway drive-in was built for the Ace circuit, on land owned by the Claremont City Council. It opened in April 1957 with accommodation for 600 cars.

The Lakeway Drive-In closed in June 1984.

It re-opened as the Oceanview Drive-In on 29th March 1985 with “Cannonball Run 2”, and “Porky’s 2” the next day, and “Rambo Part 2-First Blood”.

The drive-in finally closed on 6th July 1985 with “Love Swedish Style” and “Bel Ami”.
