Renown Theatre Bathurst Street and McDonnell Street, Condobolin, NSW - 1964

Photo 1964 - Courtesy of William A. Bayley

Located on the northeast corner of Bathurst Street and McDonnell Street. The Grand Central Hall opened in 1914. Name changed to Central Theatre in 1920’s or 1930’s. Name changed to Renown Theatre in 1954. Closed in (1984 or 1985?).

It became a video library & restaurant, but both business’s failed. The vacant Renown Theatre burnt down on 7th January 2012 (the reason the Renown Theatre caught fire is unknown?), and was demolished a few months later. The site is now a park. The Renown Theatre appeared in the music video for “What about me” by Shannon Noll who is from Condobolin - Notes by David Coppock
