Callaghan Twin Theatre

This theatre was opened on September 21, 1973 at the corner of Callaghan Road and Ingram Road. It would run mostly second-run features that previously played at the larger movie theatres around town. It also played a host of B-movies like “Autopsy” and “Sssssss” during the mid-1970’s. It is my guess that this theatre closed during the late-1980’s and now houses public health offices.

My very first job was at this theatre. It was definitely on the decline….I was there in the mid 80’s until it closed. Man were there some fun times hanging out with my fellow workers!

This along with the San Pedro Drive-Inn were the only theaters I knew of growing up on that side of town in the late 70’s. I was able to catch one last movie there (The Untouchables in 1987) before it closed for good. Nice memories…good tiimes.

In the late ‘70s I lived within walking distance of this theater…I remember seeing “The Jerk” there.
