The El Rancho Theater was opened prior to 1950. It was closed on August 30, 1964 with Frankie Avalon in “Muscle Beach Party”. It was destroyed by fire in 1970.

Ringling was winter residence for one of the Ringling Bros Circus units, so most likely the theater was connected with curcus folk. You should see those great circus themed tomb stones in the local cemetery.
Though it is true Ringling, Oklahoma, owes its origins to Al Ringling (Ringling Bros, Barnum, & Bailey) Circus, the local cemetery has only a couple of headstones reflecting this fact.
Hugo, Oklahoma, is where you will find Showmen’s Rest Cemetery which has numerous circus themed tombstones in honor of all the “carnys” and circus performers buried there. Cliff L. Lance took the El Rancho widescreen on April 2, 1954 with “The Robe” in CinemaScope. It appears to have closed at the end of lease on August 30, 1964 with “Muscle Beach Party.”
