Capitol Theatre

The Capitol Theatre was opened in 1947 and it was located next to another Shaw Organisation’s cinema - the Federal Theatre. The theatre had seating located in orchestra and balcony levels. The Capitol Theatre was a Chinese movie hall until 1996 when it switched to showing Indian movies until it was closed in 2000.

The Capitol Theatre had a capability to show 3-D movies and it has shown movies like “Friday the 13th” Part in Super 3-D, “Jaws 3D” etc. The last 3-D movie that was shown in the Capitol Theatre was “MetalStorm”. The Capitol Theatre in Kuala Lumpur also had a capability of screening movies that were in 70mm format.
