Former Isis Theater West Asheville

This small neighborhood theatre in West Asheville has an Art Deco style facade. It opened January 2, 1938. In the early-1940’s, it was operated by Paramount Pictures Inc. through their subsidiary Carl Bamford. The Isis Theatre was closed in 1957.

It has been remodeled for a variety of retail uses and currently houses a restaurant and since late-2012, concerts are featured.

The Isis was opened in January 1938 by Publix Theaters.

Boxoffice said, in its January 8, 1938, issue: “Asheville’s new $50,000 theatre, the Isis, held its formal opening December 27. The theatre was built by the Publix-Bamford Theatres and has a seating capacity of 555.”

The Isis is being reopened as a concert restaurant venue. They have installed a beautiful marquee and a duplicate of the original sign that reads Isis. Will upload a photo as soon as I can.
