AMC Cobb Place 8

The Cobb Place opened on June 5, 1987 and was the first of the three multiplexes (the others being Cineplex Odeons Town Centre and Storey’s Town Cinema) to open in the Town Centre Mall area. The cinema did quite well and was closed shortly before AMC opened the megaplex Barrett Commons in 1999.

Although the Cobb Place has been converted into a retail establishment, one of main auditoriums remains almost intact and is used as a showroom.

Cobb Place 8 opened in 1986, several months after Town 8 opened. We used to go see their sneak peek movies on Thursday nights, and they would come to ours.
