Capri Theater ... Shreveport Louisiana

The Saenger Theater was opened March 26, 1911. In the early-1940’s the Saenger Theatre was operated by Paramount-Richards, Inc. On March 24, 1967 it was renamed Capri Theater. It was converted into a nightclub.

On October 5 & 6, 2012, it was in cinema use once more when it became one of the venues for the LA Film Prize Film Festival.

The Capri was formerly called the Saenger. It was a first-run downtown movie house. It went through several renovations over the course of its history. I believe it was a nightclub for awhile after it ceased showing movies.

From 1947, a movie ad for the “Gas House Kids Go West” and Johnny Mack Brown in “Flashing Guns” at the Saenger Theatre in Shreveport.

March 26th, 1911 grand opening ad as Saenger as well as the March 24th, 1967 grand opening ad as Capri can be found in the photo section for this cinema.
