this theatre is one of the first theaters to feature ‘Auro-3D’ 11.1 sound

This theatre has always been a favorite of mine in the Valley. 2 huge auditoriums with 60 foot screens (one with Barco Auro 3d sound) and 4 nice size medium auditoriums with large screens as well. This past year I noticed every time I came here it was nearly empty. Turns out the remodeled AMC Fallbrook a few miles away with auto recliners and reserved seating has killed their business.

They are in the middle of a major renovation, adding reclining seats in all six auditoriums, reducing seating by 50%. It should be completed by November and hopefully create more traffic here. They will also have reserved seating as well. Cannot wait to check it out when done. Next time I got I will try and add pictures.

New seating capacities at this theater following the installation of Regal’s new “king-size” recliners (via Fandango’s reserved seating service):

  • Theater 1 – 164 seats

  • Theater 2 – 163 seats

  • Theaters 3 & 4 – 74 seats

  • Theaters 5 & 6 – 72 seats

Came here Sat the 28th to see EEAAO in Auditorium #1. The place looks great. The new recliners are quite comfortable, and the new laser projection looks great, but the best change is the addition of screen masking as it makes a big difference in the overall presentation. No commercials, just a few trailers. Regency is really doing presentation right. Love what they did here. Hopefully people will catch on and this place will be crowded again.

The Regency might not make it. “The work calls for removal of the Regency Theatres—which began a downward slide during the pandemic and never fully recovered—and the construction of new stores, restaurants and up to 119 apartment homes at two different sites on the 25-acre property just east of the Calabasas civic center.”
