Silver Screen Theatre

The Silver Screen Theatre opened in 1982 with one screen. It was twinned in 1983. Two more screens were added in 1996. It was damaged by Hurricane Ivan in 2005, and received a complete makeover.

The Silver Screen Theatre was closed on September 2, 2013, unable to raise enough funding to convert to digital projection. The final movies screened on that day were “Planes”, “Red 2”, “Mortal Instruments” and “The Butler”.

Used to see ‘midnight movies’ here back in the early 80s.There was this one weird, creepy guy that I always saw there.

Although I don’t reside in the area, it’s sad to read/hear of yet another movie theatre having to close its doors.
