Paragon Ridge 8

Opened June 22, 1984 ahead of the neighborhood, this location struggled to find an audience and for years operated as a discount house.

When this section of Davie finally bloomed attendance improved but state-of-the-art competition also came. Paragon acquired the AMC Ridge Plaza 8 in 2015.

I remember seeing a few movies here in the late 80’s early 90’s but the theater was kind of out the way from where I lived and never frequented it much. One thing I do remember about the interior was the mini arcade with a few games to the left side as you walk in. I ended up passing the time there a bit while waiting for my parents to pick me up after the movie was done. However nothing else really stood out about it other than it was oddly positioned in a plaza that ran parallel to I-595.

I worked there in late 93 when it was a $1 second run movie theater. Many of my friends locally worked there at some point. Long lasting friends. We always remember our time at that theater. I’ve passed by a few times since but haven’t seen what they’ve done to it.
