News About This Theater

Regal Champlain Centre Stadium 8

This theatre was in planning stages under Cinema Centers when it was acquired by Hoyts and opened in 1987. Built in a style similar to other CCC properties in Pyramid malls, this non-descript house featured a large lobby with a circular concession stand and computerized box office.

When opened, Hoyts closed the Stewart base theatre (twin) and sold the downtown Strand Theatre. The remaining mall theatre ran for some years until the mall was torn down for new free-standing stores.

I was division manager for this house and worked as the construction manager during the build-out.

Would love to hear from anyone that worked this house in the early years.

I worked for Chaplain Centre North Cinemas from 1987 to 1989. I moved south to Glens Falls and worked there for another 5 or 6 years. We had a great time working at the North Cinemas. Everybody got along long one big family. I took pride in making the experience the best for out customers. We would have little contests to see who could start the movie on time and already centered and in focus. I really loved the whole atmosphere. I would help out at the South Centre Cinemas every now and then. I would love to get in contact with some of the folks I worked with…Andy, Rick, Heath, Aaron, Lisa, Claudia, Gina, the 2 Heathers, Teresa, Stephen, Ramsey, and all the others.
