The Aurora Theatre opened by 1914 and originally seated 600 patrons, according to an announcement in the November 8, 1919, issue of trade publication Motion Picture News. The first manager of the house was named William L. Snyder.

A Wurlitzer Hope-Jones Unit Orchestra theatre organ was installed in September, 1924, to counter the competition from the new Grand Theatre, which was about to open a short distance away in East Greenville.

The Aurora Theatre was in operation until at least 1950. After the theatre was dismantled, the last business to occupy the building was a restaurant called Riviera Pizza. The structure survived until October 1, 2007, when it was destroyed by fire.

Here is a link to several photos of the fire that destroyed the Aurora Theatre building in 2007. Bits of the building’s facade can be made out through the smoke and flames in a couple of the shots.

This must have opened before 1919 as it is listed in the 1914 American Motion Picture Directory
