The single screen Mounds Cinema was opened on December 25, 1970 with Martin Balsem in “Tora, Tora, Tora”. In 1978 it was taken over by Kerasotes Theatres. On September 21, 1979 in became a twin screen theatre. On December 21, 1979 it became a triple screen theatre. On December 12, 1986 it was renamed Showplace 4. It was closed in 2002. It was taken over by Goodrich Quality Theatres in 2002 and renamed Anderson 4. It finally closed in 2004. Now used as a church.

Nice looking 4 plex, noticed where the one sheets were at,If it weren’t for churches most of these old theatres would be gone.

This theatre was operated by Kerasotes Theatres and sat across the street/parking lot from the General Cinema Mounds Mall Cinemas.

This theater was originally the Triplex; it had three screens. It sits across the parking lot from the Mounds Cinema I & II, behind the Mounds Mall.

I believe this was originally the Mounds Cinema, a single screen opened 12/25/1970 by Cinecom Theatres.

More info: This opened as Mounds Cinema on Christmas Day, 1970 with “Tora! Tora! Tora!” on December 25th, 1970. It was taken over by Kerasotes Theatres in 1978, who on January 10th, 1979 fired its union projectionists and replaced the booths with automated equipment. 2 screens on September 21st, 1979, and three on December 21st, 1979. It was renamed Showplace 4 on December 12th, 1986, and closed in 2002.

more info. Reopened by Goodrich Quality Theatres in 2002 as Anderson 4 and closed in 2004 after the new cinemas in the mall opened.
