Mohawk Theatre

The Mohawk Theatre was located in the Mohawk Hotel (later the LeMoyne) at Main Street and Overland. According to the Sanborn Insurance Maps, the hotel was built after 1915. The Mowhawk Theatre opened on January 31, 1920. It was probably closed before sound pictures came in.

Irvin Harris, son of Harris-Voeller founder, I.G. Harris, has a few memories of the Mohawk Theatre in the Idaho State Historical Society’s oral history program. He stated that the Burley Theatre bought some equipment from the Mohawk Theatre after it closed.

The Mohawk sign was featured in the local Cassia County Historical Society Museum beginning in the 1980s after it was found in storage.
