Riverfront Cinemas

Amsterdam Riverfront Cinemas opened as the Amsterdam Mall Cinemas in the early-1970’s as a 4 screen. In the mid-1990’s it was expanded using nearby store space to seven screens, these new screens had small seating areas of about 25-50 seats each they were used as run off theaters allowing them to keep movies longer, as dictated by the booking agents, this allowed them to keep newer releases in the original 4 screens.

Sadly the theater closed when the owner partnered with another man to buy the former Norma Jean Cinemas on Route 30. I remember attending movies here a few times growing up but I don’t recall what they were. It a shame these theaters are sitting empty these auditoriums were built well, this would make an awesome dinner theater.
