Curtain Call Dinner Theater

The Curtain Call Dinner Theater opened as the Tustin Theatre in a small shopping center on June 20, 1962. The opening movies were Kirk Douglas in “Lonely Are the Brave” & Peter Cushing in “Night Creatures”. It was always an independent theatre. In the early-1970’s it was divided into two auditoriums and continued to operate until it was taken over by Elizabeth Howard in 1981.

Since that time it has found success as Orange County’s only dinner theater staging classic Broadway musicals such as “Phantom of the Opera”. At a time when dinner theaters may be considered passé, the Curtain Call Dinner Theater continued to draw crowds six nights a week. It was closed on November 12, 2010.

The theatre is listed in General Cinemas' block add during the early 70’s. Around 1974, it begins to appear under the Century Cinema Circuit listing, as the Tustin Twin.

The original owner/operator of the Tustin Theatre was Saul Mahler. An item in the June 11, 1962, issue of Boxoffice said that the house was scheduled to open on June 20. A special preview show was to be held on the 19th.

Did the first ad posted by Chuck say formerly LOEWS,and was it ever a LOEWS?

As to TLSLOEWS question: General Cinemas bought a group of Loews venues in the early 70’s. The Tustin Theatre was never a Loews, the reference was tied in to other sites GCC had listed in the advertisement.

I can remember seeing both King Kong (1976) and Future World here as a kid.
