Bridge Theatre

The Bridge Theatre opened in 1916. It was known for a short time in the 1920’s as the Kozy Theatre. The original name returned and the theater closed temporarily in March of 1935. It was remodeled and reopened in 1938 by Clarence Kaimann, who operated the theater until 1953, when the final double bill was “The Clown” and “The Well”.

A church called the Bethesda Healing Temple occupied the Bridge Theatre building for a short time and then later an auto parts store.

Theatre opened late in 1916. Theatre was not one of the St. Louis Amusement houses. Longest operator was Clarence Kaimann, from 1938 to 1953.

Made a special trip today (Nov. 9, 2012) to make sure the status of the structure. It is still there! The photograph reflects reality.

Clarence Kaimann was my great-uncle. He also owned the North Twin Drive-In on Lewis and Clark (Highway 367) just north of Halls Ferry Circle.

April 2015 streetview shows the building has suffered a fire. I’ll try to verify its existence soon.

Checked out yesterday…there is evidence of a fire around one of the former front windows, but the structure remains. The tree, however, is gone.
