The New Theatre was opened in 1936 replacing the towns' Idikish Theatre, a silent movie theatre. By 1941 it had been renamed Ultra Theatre. It was closed around 1954 when the Garrison Dam was built. The town was evacuated and flooded by Lake Sakakawea behind the dam.
A new town was built to the east, named New Town and in 1955 it had a movie theatre named Trail Theatre (which has its own page on Cinema Treasures).
