The Victory Theatre launched in downtown Carthage on the Square in the silent era. The Victory Theatre converted to sound. Under new operators, it became the Cartex Theatre in the mid-1930’s. In November of 1944, the Cartex Theatre moved to its new location on the north side of the Square.
