Cushing’s downtown was home to the silent Columbia Theatre. Walling & Murphee Circuit of Bristow (aka Walmur) bought the Columbia Theatre in the 1920’s and changed its name to the Rialto Theatre. The theatre passed to Hiram Dunkin.

The local paper reported that Dunkin switched the locations of his American Theatre with the Rialto Theatre. On November 17, 1929, the Rialto Theatre was wired for Western Electric sound and opened under new management as the Paramount Theatre. The opening film was “Illusions".

The Paramount Theatre burned down on April 20, 1931. Griffith Amusement replaced the facility with a new Paramount Theatre in the same spot designed by Griffith’s architect Gates Corrigan launching August 5, 1931.
