The Thompson Theatre was a short-lived Streamline Moderne style venue in downtown Tishomingo. The town had been served for 15 years by its former Empress Theatre turned Princess Theatre. Glen Thompson took on the Princess Theatre and built the new Thompson Theatre launching December 2, 1936 with Jed Prouty in “Educating Father”.

A major fire emanating in a neighboring shoe store completely destroyed the Thompson Theatre and several other businesses on January 3, 1939. The last film appears to the “Stablemates” with Mickey Rooney. Thompson rebuilt the venue relaunching in August of 1939 (it has its own page on Cinema Treasures).
