The Lyric Theater was located in the Welch Building on East Main Street.
No specific opening date is given, but it is listed in the Film Daily Yearbook, 1941 and possibly opened just prior to that in the late 1930’s. The original seating capcity is listed as 600, but this had been reduced to 505 as noted in the FDY, 1950.
On November 19th 1957 the Lyric burned down after a furnace exploded.
It was the only movie theater in Scottsville and operated a policy of three different movies a week, plus cartoons.

This drawing looks very much like that of the Capitol Theatre in Bowling Green. I wonder if they had the same architect? The black glass and trim,and event the feel of the marquee.
