Looks like they are not using the whole screen just the middle, how sad. Watch out If you get a reserved seat in the middle back section first three rows you will see handle bars on the lower part of the new screen blocking your view of the screen.

Well, Wizard of Oz is 1:37, so they’d only be using that center portion of the 1.90:1 screen. So not sad… correct.

To bad they didn’t open up with the whole screen being used on another digital video movie, and what about any color lights in the ceiling during the movie. Blue, Green, Red what color? How was the stereo surround sound on a mono print? I thought with all the conversion to phony 3-D they would expand the image wide to the full Imax screen size like they do on TCM. At least the Chinese has black masking on the top and sides to mask in.

Geez! Just be happy the darn theatre is still a THEATRE and not a nightclub like we thought it was gonna become!

It’s night club days are coming once the IMAX craze is over. It’s to costly of a space to have a bad movie play and only a few in the seats during the week days. The owners are in the night club business that’s why they leased the place. Visit now before the parties start.

The parties are in the 6 plex…not here. :)

There’s no way this becomes a nightclub in its new incarnation. They would literally have to gut it again and do another multi-million dollar renovation. And luckily, based on the attendance for Wizard of Oz, Metallica and now Gravity, the renovation was well worth it.

And once they IMAX craze is over (which I don’t think is anytime soon)… guess what? It’s still a theater. I think we have to worry more about what happens when the land lease runs out in about 10 years than we do a dip in the IMAX craze hurting this theater.
