Cine Bujazan

The Cine Bujazan has suffered a serious fire and although the facade and ‘Skouras’ styled paybox survive together with the terrazzo floor, around the rear of the building are only the lower sections of the auditorium and stage house walls that are now roofless.

Cine teatro Bujazan, perhaps the most legendary theater in the whole Baja California state.
Its hard to understand how the good people of Tijuana let this gem to die so bad, specially because there is no other opera, fine arts, vaudeville or cultural museum in the area.
After the 80’s fire that totally destroyed the building, far from rebuilding it, the property went on complete abandonment and neglection.
Years and years of decay, until finally someone cut a deal with perhaps the family owning the property, and by only swepping out the dust and clearing debris, now the empty shell gets rented for almost any public purpose.
From urban concerts, to popular town festivities, political meetings, this place is now an iconic ruin to meet with style.
