Lake Drive-In

One of the two single screen drive-in theaters in Waterbury in the 1950’s and 1960’s. The Lake Drive-In was opened by 1950 when it was operated by Airdrome Amusement Corporation and had a capacity for 486 cars. By 1952 it was operated by R. Schwartz with a 600 car capacity. By 1955 it was operated by R. Schwartz and B. Jacocks Corporation and the car capacity had increased to 706. The entrance was on Meriden Road (Route 6A) in Waterbury, but the theater grounds were in Wolcott. It was closed in the mid-1970’s. Demolished around 1980 for a retail development that never materialized.
