Northtown Cinemas

Northtown Cinemas was a sister to Southtown Cinemas. Together they were the first triplexes in southeast Wisconsin. It was run as a discount first run theater with all digital sound. It still had the three large cavernous auditoriums plus five newer stadium style spaces. It is posted as operating from 1976, but I had believed this was opened in 1966-7.

It was closed in 2012.

It opened in 1976. I was there the first day of operation. I saw a Disney film called “The Shaggy D.A.” the day the Northtown opened.

This theater is now out of business. What a shame.

The three original auditoriums were very large and nice. I will miss those auditoriums.
