Peru Theater

The Peru Theater was opened January 15, 1931, operated by the LaSalle, IL-based Alger Theatres chain. It originally could seat over 800. Seating was later reduced to 725. The theater was still part of the Alger chain into the early-1950’s, but in later years, it was part of the Kerasotes chain.

The theater was closed around 1980 and was later demolished. In 2007 the new Peru Municipal Center was constructed on the site.

I saw several films at the Peru in the 60s and 70s. If my memory serves me correctly I think the interior style was atmospheric.
